Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! Many studies have shown that an average grown-up should consume at least 50 grams of protein every day. Why 50 grams? Protein, made up of amino acids keeps your overall health in a good condition, boosts energy levels, & even helps you lose weight. The research concludes that a minimum of 50 grams of protein is important for your body to perform basic functions properly. Protein intake is extremely crucial if you want to keep your body fit & maintain good health.
The question is, how to get 50 grams of protein a day? In this blog, I am not going to ask you to eat specific food in a specific quantity. I know it’s very difficult to follow! Even though I am a Ranji Cricketer, it gets really burdensome to follow a certain strict diet & eat mundane tasting food. You need not trouble your body to consume enough protein every day. Here are 3 easy ways you can increase protein intake and complete 50 grams of protein intake every day.
How to Get 50 Grams of Protein a Day; 3 Easy Ways:
1. Chronology matters!
Whatever you eat on a daily basis is good as long as it has got enough amount of carbs, fats, & proteins. You need to focus on the sequence. For example, there are many vegetables that are high in protein such as broccoli, chickpeas, soybean, green peas, sprouts, etc.
A typical Indian meal has everything you need! Wheat Chapati, vegetables, chutneys, plain yogurt or in the form of Raita (mixed with different vegetables), rice, daal, etc. Make sure you eat your proteins first. It increases the release of peptide YY (PYY), a gut hormone, and decreases the release of Ghrelin, a hunger hormone.
Also, eating your proteins first allows your body to prevent your blood sugar levels & insulin levels from rising. Make sure you are eating high protein food present on your plate first & then consume high carb – starch food such as Rice.
2. Keep eating after every 2-3 hours
Might sound weird, but eating after a break of 2-3 hours is actually a difference maker! Again, it depends on what you are eating. You cannot keep on eating junk food after every 2-3 hours & expect a healthy fit physically. Even if you eat less but eat healthily, it’s enough to keep your tummy full for 3-4 hours.
Why am I suggesting to eat after every 2-3 hours? If you follow my 1st point, you will probably feel full after eating half of what you eat every day. If you consume more proteins, in the beginning, you will have less space left for high-carb & starch food. After a few hours, you might feel hungry as your stomach starts releasing the hunger hormone; Ghrelin.
Repeat the consumption of high-protein foods again. You need not eat Vegetables again. You can opt for healthy & yummy high-protein snacks like Cheese! Yupp, cheese is a high-protein snack & even helps in keeping your heart in a good place! There are also other snacks such as Greek Yogurt, Peanut Butter, fruits like guavas, avocados, apricots, berries, etc.
3. Energy bar to the rescue
As the name suggests, these bars are full of ingredients that will boost your energy at a skyrocket pace. I have always wanted to learn how to keep my body healthy without putting too much effort. I believe that in this stressful lifestyle everyone has these days, having an option that is tasty & healthy is so important.
